Injury Recovery

Assessment and treatment for acute and chronic injuries—sprains, strains, fractures, tendon issues—using hands-on therapy and progressive exercise to rebuild strength and function.

Injury recovery at Smoke Test Physiotherapy is particularly effective for people dealing with sprains, strains, fractures, and tendon problems that are limiting their movement or causing pain. Whether your injury happened suddenly during sport or work, or has built up over months of repetitive stress, we assess what's actually going on and work with you to restore strength and function at a pace that suits your body's healing timeline.

When you come in, we start with a thorough assessment. We'll ask about how the injury happened, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to doing. We'll examine the injured area, test your range of motion and strength, and often get a clear picture of what's driving your symptoms. From there, we design a treatment plan that's specific to you, not a generic protocol. Most people in the Smoke Test Physiotherapy clinic find that combining hands-on therapy—like soft tissue work and joint mobilisation—with guided exercises gives them real progress. The hands-on work helps reduce pain and restore movement, while the exercises rebuild the strength and stability you need to prevent the injury from coming back.

Recovery isn't always linear, and we're realistic about that. Acute injuries like a fresh ankle sprain might improve noticeably within a few weeks. Chronic issues or more complex injuries like a healing fracture take longer and need patience. We adjust your program as you progress, adding challenge when you're ready and scaling back if something isn't working. Most people attend once or twice a week initially, then reduce frequency as they gain independence with their home exercises.

You'll benefit most from coming in soon after an injury occurs, but we also work with people who've been struggling for months or even years. If you're unsure whether your injury needs physio or you're not sure what's causing your pain, that's fine—come in for a chat and we'll give you an honest answer about whether we can help. Give us a call to book an appointment or discuss what you're dealing with.
